Code of Ethics

NAR's (National Association of REALTORS®) Code of Ethics, adopted in 1913, was one of the first codifications of ethical duties adopted by any business group. The Code ensures that consumers are served by requiring REALTORS® to cooperate with each other in furthering clients' best interests.

For REALTOR® Members:

As required for your REALTOR® membership, all REALTORS® must complete at least 2.5 hours of NAR-approved code of ethics (COE) training during each 3-year cycle. The current cycle deadline is Dec. 31, 2024.

Training may be completed through NAR’s free online courses (see links below) or through another method, such as online or classroom courses from local/state associations, or from a third-party education resource.
